This workshop includes a full day program and is delivered by an inter-disciplinary team to ensure the biopsychosocial aspects of pain are addressed to achieve superior return to work outcomes.
Content in the workshop includes:
- Understanding persistent pain
- Identifying risk of a poor return to work outcomes
- including use of risk assessment tools
- Overcoming obstacles to a successful return to work outcome including:
- Previously failed return to work
- Fear of re-injury and fear avoidant behaviours
- Poor motivation
- The worker feeling “pushed” to return to or upgrade work
- Conflict with the employer
- Challenging communication situations
Participants are encouraged to bring their “worst” example of a client who has not achieved a full return to work to enable practical workshopping of real-world examples.
